On the 5th October 1841 the 'William Turner' ship arrived in Sydney with passengers John Brooker, wife Sarah Ann and daughter Jane.
Then in 1843 Henry George was born at Camden and John's profession was listed as a shoemaker. I believe while living in Camden Sarah died however I have not been able to prove this.
They settled in George Street, Sydney and 6th November 1845 a son, Frederick, was born. He was christened on 9th November 1845 and died 2 December 1845. John and Sarah's abode was given as Paddington and profession as a shoemaker. They moved to Paterson in the Hunter Valley where John became a butcher starting a long line of butchers.
John and Sarah attended a large number of weddings at St. Paul's, Paterson and were witnesses because most of the people could not read or write and only sign with an X. Both had lovely handwriting and it was easy of trace them through the marriage register because of this factor.
Sarah died 10th October 1887 at Paterson of paralysis aged 68years. Her death was reported in the Maitland Mercury, Canterbury (UK) and Dover (UK) papers which is intriguing because she lived in Australia for 45 years.
John died 28th November 1904 at Paterson of cerebral haemorrage aged 86 years. They are both buried at St. Paul's Church of England, Paterson near the steps.
